When I grow up I'm never gonna sleep.
Sleep is wrong.

Name: Mao
Age: 25
Asylum position: Head Nurse and Admin Representative.
Disorder/s: Mild vocal and facial ticks, Chronic Insomnia and small range of other Parasomniac sleep disorders, (Sleep terror disorder, Hypnogogia and Sleep paralysis)
Ward: Manages all.
Physical Details:
Height: 173 cm
Weight: 48-52kg
Eyecolour: Honey brown
Personality: Mao seems like such a nice young man upon first meeting; of such sweet disposition and sometimes almost childlike innocence and adorable habits that… the change in his behaviour can be a shock if pushed to such a reaction; sadistic, blunt to the point of rudeness with an acidic side to his tongue, hidden behind a sweet smile that also hides a cunning ruthlessness. He doesn't care for bullshit or playing games unless they're of his own creation (and he does enjoy creating them). Mao lacks real patience, prefers working to a frenetic pace, keeping busy and getting things done even if the work never seems to end. He is intelligent and quick witted when he feels like it; a talented nurse when it comes down to it who doesn't let his own disorders get in the way of the patients he cares for. Mao isn’t easy to push around despite his demure appearance but will, if he has or wants to use his fists to make his point.
Background: Mao, born in Fukuoka, comes from a rich family, well respected in the medical and law circles -both his parents involved in Medical Law practices, much like their parents before them-. He was the first child and therefore shouldered the heavy burden of tradition. He had it easy though out his early years into adolescence; mildly spoilt and doted on, shaped to become a fitting heir. To compliment this he was naturally intelligent, a 'wunderkind', surging through set school years like a breeze.
Mao began to study psychology at an early age to supplement his already blossoming interest in the human mind and joined night nursing school after finishing basic education, quelling his intense curiousity about how humans work while at the same time attending day time university classes on Law to satisfy his parents, often calling his insomnia a gift as much as he suffered for it. He continued his studies into the specialised area of Psychiatric Nursing, while dropping law from his repertoire.
As he grew older, a rebellious streak ripped him from his parents favour; the details of which, like a lot of staff that pass through Saitoh are kept to themselves, replaced by his younger brother as the shining star but still grudgingly accepted by the family.
At 22 he left Fukuoka to seek his fortunes at first in Tokyo then finally in Osaka where a close family friend arranged for him to take the long standing opening of head nurse at a private, but rough around the edges psychiatric hospital on the coast. A small building. Ominous. He accepted immediately.
Months after taking the job at Saitoh, finally settling into his role that was more admin work than actually caring for patients; managing nurses, doctors and staff and handling new staff and admissions, Mao's parents placed another responsibility on his shoulders by announcing his arranged engagement to the daughter of a high flying family friend, which he accepted, perhaps as a last chance to get back into his family’s good books.
A few years on now, Mao has a year old son and a caring wife, both of whom he dotes upon. Currently stationed at another hospital while Saitoh finishes it's repairs, he still has maintained working at full capacity as Head Nurse and anticipates his return within the coming weeks.
Like everyone stationed at Saitoh, he has his own secrets. Things that will never be told, never said, unless you look between the lines.
